I have become especially infatuated with documentary, as the creator is the writer without having written any of the dialogue themselves. It’s a puzzle. The story already exists, but we must work to discover and piece it together. Intelligence surrounds us, but it takes someone to recognize the effect and transform it into art. The most fun part is that the transformation is not solely technical. Every filmmaker includes a voice in their work even without their words. It is collaboration, one of the most important skills that you must not neglect, that makes documentary filmmaking such a special art form.
